Quick Items

Quick items are simple foods and snacks that don't need a full recipe. Add things like fruit, yogurt, granola bars, or leftovers to your meal plan and grocery lists.

Getting Started

The Quick Items page includes 85+ suggested items organized by category. Click any suggestion to instantly add it to your collection, or use "Add All" to add an entire category at once.

  • Produce: Fruits, vegetables, and fresh herbs
  • Dairy: Milk, eggs, cheese, and yogurt
  • Meat & Seafood: Proteins and deli items
  • Bakery: Bread, bagels, and baked goods
  • Pantry: Canned goods, pasta, and staples
  • Beverages: Drinks and juices

Creating Custom Items

Add a new item

Click "Add Custom Item" and enter the item name.

Choose a category

Select the appropriate category (Produce, Dairy, Meat, etc.).

Set a default unit

Pick from category-appropriate units (lb, dozen, bag, etc.) or type a custom unit.

Smart Default Units

RecipeHaul automatically suggests appropriate units based on the item and category:

  • Eggs default to "dozen"
  • Milk defaults to "gallon"
  • Bread defaults to "loaf"
  • Chicken breast defaults to "lb"

The unit dropdown is filtered by category, so you only see relevant options. Need a unit that isn't listed? Just type it in to create a custom unit.
